Isn't there a saying about the best laid plans still going awry? There is, I saved you a Google!
For the last few months, Erin and I (Anya) have been slowly preparing to move out of our apartment and into a house with family. The house we planned to move to had plenty of land with room for a garden.... it was a wonderful plan! We've been preparing for so long, we'd even begun putting off collaborations and other opportunities on the assumption that within a few weeks we'd have twice as many eager hands to help with Lucky 13 work.
Sadly, in a few short hours, that all came crashing down. A huge (yet so minor!) misunderstanding regarding keeping my cat (Sagan) indoors vs outdoors led to us changing our upcoming moving plans.
Originally, we had planned to move to Bonney Lake, WA sometime mid-August to early-September. Now we have hopes to find a home in the Portland, OR (or other Oregon cities nearby) area instead!
If you know of any houses in the Portland(ish) area with a huge yard or land and plenty of room for 5 adults, 2 cats, a dog, a tortoise, a business, and an RV please let us know!
Lots of new, limited edition, and discontinued polishes happening today! Let's get right to it.
New Release: Fury Road
Our newest collection is inspired by Mad Max Fury Road. 7 polishes plus one limited edition polish. The Fury Road collection will be available long-term; Glory Awaits in Fallhalla, the limited edition from this collection, will be discontinued December 7th.
Limited edition/limited stock
There are only TWO Trick or Treat Yo' Self boxes available and then they will be gone for good!!!
There is also a new batch of Orphan polishes available. This time around, we've separated them into Orphan sets and individual Orphans, as some polishes look best as a set.
For those unfamiliar with Orphans, these are prototypes that didn't meet the specific idea in mind. These are all still great quality polishes.
To make room for new polishes, we've added some of the We Are the Crystal Gems collection and a few older polishes to the Last Chance bin at discounted prices.
Holo-Addicted is being discontinued so that we may reformulate it using real Spectraflair! Currently it's made using a Spectraflair alternative and only a few bottles remain.
Pumpkin Cat-Astrophe, October's limited edition, will be removed from the site on November 7th along with the Ghouls' Night In collection.
Good evening, boils and ghouls!
We've just released our Halloween/Fall collection, Ghouls' Night In, which is inspired by 6 spooky and scary movies.
Grab your popcorn and a cocktail and let's watch some movies! You can click each polish's name to go right to its page in the shop.
Let's start things off with something lighthearted and fun: Shaun of the Dead!
You've Got Red on You is a blood splatter inspired glitter topper with all shapes and sizes of red and fire red holo glitters. Make any mani a blood splatter mani!
Next up is a classic: Night of the Living Dead. No, Barbra's name is not a typo. In the original film her name is spelled Barbra, not Barbara!
They're Coming to Get You, Barbra has a grey crelly base with white, silver, and black hexes and black holo hex.
Can someone go grab popcorn?? 2 movies in, I need something to snack on!!
Let's put on A Nightmare on Elm St, next. We can admire how babyfaced Johnny Depp was back in the day!
Don't Fall Asleep is a pale grey to dark grey thermal base with blood red micro flakes. Like blood splattered across your bedroom ceiling at night....or something trying to break through into our world.
Heeeeere's Johnny! Next up is The Shining.
Redrum is the perfect dried blood red creme. This would be wonderful for a blood splatter mani.
The label on top of each bottle has "Redrum" written exactly the same as in the film!
I don't know about you but by now I need a little bit of silly mixed in with my horror. It's too late in the night and my house is creaky!! How about we put on Army of Darkness?
Good, Bad, I'm the Guy with the Gun has a deep midnight blue base with maroon/copper/gold/green and hints of blue color-shifting flakes.
This polish is so deep and complex and impossible to capture everything in a single photo.
OH MY GOOOOOOOOOD!
Finally, by the end of the night we're all sleepy (and more than a little inebriated, probably) so let's go back to something fun! Troll 2 is perhaps the best bad horror movie ever!
Slimey emerald green jelly base packed with silver holo micro shreds. The perfect shade of plant-goo green.
We also have a few other polishes that aren't a part of the Ghouls' Night In collection but were released at the same time. Let's check out the monthly limited editions first!
Our first LE for this month is partially inspired by Mad Max Fury Road and further inspired by the beautiful colors of falling leaves.
Glory Awaits in Fallhalla (a play on Valhalla) has a dark navy blue base with red holo, orange holo, gold holo, and dark moss green hex.
This month we have a double limited edition, Glory Awaits in Fallhalla will be available for both October and November!
Our second Limited Edition for October is Pumpkin Cat-astrophe. It has a pumpkin orange crelly base with black hex, tiny fire red holo hex, and black kitty cat face glitters.
This polish is available until November 7th and will then be discontinued.
Our latest charity polish is a plum purple linear holo.
$1 from each bottle sold will be donated to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence.
Hey everyone, we finally have another giveaway to share with you all!!
Geek Chic Cosmetics recently found a small stash of leftover bottles of Dream of the 90s in her workshop and was kind enough to donate them for a giveaway. We've pulled out some upcoming Portlandia-inspired shades and some limited availability vinyl decals for the occasion!
Geek Chic's bottles are an older design and Portland is where the dream of the 90s is alive, so it felt appropriate to both begin and end this giveaway on a Throwback Thursday. This giveaway will have 4 winners and will only run for 2 weeks, ending 11:59PM PST on September 30th, so make sure you enter soon. You may repost this Instagram image once per day for an extra entry!
This giveaway is open to US residents only.
The grand prize winner will receive
Additional winners will each receive
As many of you surely know, I (Jess) and Mishka of Accio Lacquer are very good friends and we work together often. I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to spend time with her in-person a few weeks ago and it only made our friendship stronger. We've even discussed the possibility of her moving closer to where I am! I can't even fathom how amazing that would be!
However, after Mishka returned home from her vacation she found that her dear kitty, Severus, was very ill from his diabetes. If my cat Sagan is my supervisor, Mishka's cat Severus is her Professor!
Just look at this little dork, how can you not love him the moment you see him??
The good news is that Severus' vet remains positive about his recovery and the kitty is happy to get all the love Mishka can give him. However, such severe health issues have caused the vet bills to pile up to an unmanageable level.
Mishka has opened up a GoFundMe account to cover Severus' bills to make sure her baby gets the best care possible.
As someone who has also had some very expensive complications with their beloved feline friend I aim to do everything in my power to help Mishka and Severus stay happy, healthy, and out of deep debt.
While I am recovering from my own financial difficulties due to kitties there isn't much I can do personally, but I do have the power to offer a discount for those who are able to support Mishka and Severus!
I am offering a one-time use code of 10% off for all who donate $5 or more OR 20% off for those who donate $20 or more to Mishka's fund.
If you enjoy reading Accio Lacquer I hope you'll support her in her time of need, even if the most you can do is $1 or spreading the word. Our furry friends are what keep us going when times get hard.
Please enjoy this soothing gif of my own kitty, Sagan, enjoying some love.
It's official. I've caught Con Fever. GeekGirlCon in October was my gateway con and I am a full on addict now! We're going just to enjoy (not have a booth at) Emerald City Comic Con next and I'm not sure my heart can handle it!
This past weekend we had a booth at Wizard World Portland. This was great for me, since we're based out of Vancouver, WA (just across the river from Portland) this was an opportunity to meet locals, and Portlanders are definitely fans of handmade, local goodies.
Our table was near some other amazing creative types including Fizzy Fairy Apothecary (we picked up some awesome Pokeball bath fizzies, while I work toward d20 bath bombs I highly suggest checking them out), Swansong Studios (if they'd had a larger size of their A Leaf on the Wind print it would have been mine!), and the amazing artist Delia Gable (some NSFW stuff in that link).
I also got to meet some artists I admire such as FableFire (if you love foxes and/or cute with a bit of macabre, check out her stuff) and Amanda Lafrenais (another NSFW warning) and I have about 50 business cards of new artists and creators to follow. I instantly fell in love with Jenny Parks and I got a large print of TARDIS Cat.
Overall this was a very different experience from GeekGirlCon since we had an Artist Alley table instead of a booth, but it allowed us to make friends with our neighbors which I really enjoyed.
Check out the amazing cosplays I saw (there were even more I couldn't get photos of). The last pic is of a Portland legend, the Unipiper! And yes, I totally wore leggings as pants on Friday, no shame!
Now, on to my personal/non-business experiences at Wizard World!
Since I had some great friends helping cover the table I got the chance to go to a Q&A, photo op and get an autograph from Alan Tudyk. The autograph was the most exciting part of the weekend, I brought a bottle of A Leaf on the Wind in the hopes he could sign it for me and he did!!! Please note that he purely, 100% did this as a favor for a fan and he in no way supports or endorses Lucky 13 and therefore I won't be sharing a photo; this is no different than him signing any other art inspired by him. I'll just say that it's beautiful and I love it!
About an hour after the autograph I had my photo op with him. This photo was taken the third time I'd spoken to him in 2 days so that smile might mean "send help, she's a madwoman!" I'm still not sure ;-)
Emerald City Comic Con in March has Inara and Zoe from Firefly...I think I'm going to officially start a collection of autographed polish bottles from my Firefly collection! Though that does mean I'd need to reformulate a couple of them since I wasn't 100% in love with them all...hmm...I guess that's my cue to get back to work! It was great getting to meet some of you this weekend!
Those of you who follow me on Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, and Instagram hopefully saw the release of the 12 Days of Glitter indie advent box last week! This collab box includes 12 mini polishes from 12 different makers--including quite a few exclusive shades.
Check out the photos below but you might want to grab your box quick before they're gone!
Some makers created more than one color for the box so there will be a chance at getting one of the colors listed for that day from that maker. These are just quick pics so please forgive the quality and remember that these might look slightly different on your nails!
Lots of great things going on this month, folks. A collab box that will be coming soon, a new collection, Black Friday, new goodies (and getting rid of some old goodies), and the return of two popular limited edition shades!
12 Days of Glitter
During my childhood my favorite part of the holiday/Christmas season was the advent calendar with little pieces of chocolate for every day. For my adulthood I wanted to rekindle that memory and turn it into something I could enjoy today and that means....nail polish!
The 12 Days of Glitter Advent Box (available now!) will include one mini (5ml to 7ml) polish from 12 indie brands. Each brand has created 1 to 3 shades inspired by their favorite holiday movie, most of which are only available in this box; one polish from each brand is included in each advent box.
There are only 50 of these available at $65 each (with free US shipping!) and no discounts can be applied to them so keep an eye out for their release and don't delay! The exact release date is still to be determined (depending upon when I can get a lost package replaced) and it may be after Thanksgiving but it will still be released in time for delivery no later than mid-December for US folks.
Let it Go
This year's Winter collection is inspired by Frozen! There are 8 shades, including a thermal and a linear holographic, inspired by the movie. Good luck getting Let it Go out of your head today, sorry ;-)

Black Friday deals
This year all non-charity/custom products will be available for 25% off while supplies last during Black Friday weekend with the code TOFURKEY. The sale will run from 12 noon on November 26th until 11:59PM on December 1st. I'll be enjoying amazing food and family things that weekend so I won't be able to mix any additional stock though I may restock some on a preorder basis to be mixed when I return home. Orders from that weekend will begin to ship out the Monday following Black Friday. Please expect me to take a few days to get your order out due to anticipated high sales volume.
Any orders made NOW will be going out before any Black Friday orders and you'll be guaranteed to get your polishes in the event I can't restock anything during Black Friday weekend.
I've been experimenting with my new vinyl cutter and I'm now confident in the quality of the vinyl decals I can produce. I will be considering custom decal sheets for a fee in the future but right now what's in the shop is all that's available unless you'd like a design in a different color. Contact me for color options.
The Orphanage has new polishes in need of loving homes! Orphanage polishes are perfectly good but for one reason or another didn't become a released polish. In most cases these were reformulated to become a released polish or were customs that needed to be reworked.
Discontinuation of The Emerald City
The Emerald City trio was this year's Halloween collection so when current stock runs out it will not be restocked. Anything left over on Black Friday will be part of the Black Friday discount.
Discontinued polish requests
The discontinued polish requests (where you can get a polish even if it's been discontinued as long as I have supplies) will be removed from the site in a couple days and won't be returning at least for a while. I have so much to do in the coming months and there simply isn't time to do these anymore: Black Friday, Christmas rush, and Portland Comic Con in January!
However, I have put a couple popular discontinued shades back in the shop, namely....
No More/Gallifrey Falls and Softening the Bad Things
Last year's Black Friday polish, No More/Gallifrey Falls, was super popular! I've stocked up on additional thermal pigment and No More is back in the shop while supplies last. Softening the Bad Things is also back in limited stock. These polishes will not be part of the Black Friday sale as they're limited edition.
