Friday the 13th Giveaway

Happy Sunday, everyone!

I love giveaways. Don't you love giveaways?? This is going to be a very busy month but I had to do a giveaway that ends on Friday the 13th.

Up for grabs is two bottles of Lucky 13 Lacquer. Notice how I didn't say which colors? That's because the winner gets to choose their prize! And it's not just from my currently available colors either, oh no. See this giant page of colors? As long as I still have the supplies and the polishes you'd like aren't charity or limited edition, they can be yours!

Are you lusting after Link? Thinking about Thinking with Portals? Miss out on Mana Potion? On the edge of your seat wondering just what Obsidian looks like, since somehow there's no swatch?? All current L13L are available as prizes, too!

Open to US and International entrants, as long as International winners are able to cover the $10 shipping difference OR they have a US address I can send it to who can forward it to them.

Behind the Scenes at Lucky 13

While my home Internet has been out (for the last 10 days...) I've had plenty of time to clean, organize, re-clean, and re-organize while listening to every song in my iTunes library at least 5 times.

Sinve everything was so neat and orderly I thought some of you may be interested in seeing how things look at Lucky 13 Headquarters!

I attempted to remove the cat from my desk while taking pictures but there was a bird outside and he just kept leaping back up...I decided to leave him be.

Jinkies! Collection Release

Scooby-Dooby-Doo, where are you? We've got some work to do now!

Oh, Scooby. For so many years I would watch Scooby Doo almost every night, there was little else to watch at 1AM on a weeknight so why not? After I got over the 70's quality of it I really began to enjoy it! And so, in continuing with my "make stuff based on Kyoti's nostalgia" theme I've finally fleshed out an idea that floated into my mind months ago.

I like to mix up things up a bit and not have just giant collections so this is only a trio based on my personal favorite things from the show. Presenting, Jinkies!
Picture
Being a brainy girl myself I always loved Velma most (and she's the namesake of the entire collection) so let's begin with her, shall we?

Jinkies!

Jinkies! is an orange jelly base with red hex, squares, and bars.

Brainy and beautiful, Velma helped me overcome my insecurities about wearing glasses and being quite a bookworm in my youth. Her polish, however, suffers from no such awkwardness and fears, and only her beauty remains!

Mystery Machine

Densely packed neon green and neon blue hex in a clear base.

After months and months of trying to snag a bottle of Floam I decided to take matters into my own hands and as I know this is a very common problem I wanted to share with you all as well! Anyways, I always think of the mystery machine when I see the green and blue glitters anyway, never Floam!

Due to the densely packed glitters this does have a rougher finish and may require more than one coat of topcoat to be smooth. I'm sorry there's no full-mani swatch of Mystery Machine but I wasn't interested in the ensuing torture that would surely come when I needed to remove it. The swatch shows only 2 coats over bare nail!

Ruh-Roh!

Dark brown jelly with various sizes of black hex.

I'm generally not a fan of the larger glitters but for Scooby I had to make an exception, and boy am I glad I did!

The larger glitters can sink but I had no issues getting an adequate amount on the nail.

And there you have it, folks! What do you think of these lacquers? I've been hesitant to release Mystery Machine since the original glitter combination was thought of by someone else. However, it's so insanely hard to get your hands on (and c'mon, those are totally Mystery Machine colors!) I finally decided to do so. I expect some people will disagree with my decision and that's absolutely their right!

In other news, I mentioned this yesterday on my Facebook but for those of you who missed it: I will be discontinuing the Nautical Nonsense collection on August 16th so if you want to fuel your cartoon-related lacquer addiction now is the time!

To anyone who has made an order in the last 48 hours or so and would like to add to their order please contact me to discuss shipping reimbursement!

It took a couple days of coordinating but everyone who was able to has gotten their donation amounts together! That means the time has come to make the donation, as promised!

First up, The Lazy Laquerista is awesome and donated her portion right after the polish sold out. Here's her proof.

And now for the group donation from the following people:
  • InsomniLacq (me!!)
  • Lucky 13 Lacquer (also me! But really you! From the extra $1 for each bottle)
  • Accio Lacquer
  • Nails in Real Life
  • The Lazy Laquerista (donated directly)
  • Chronically Fantabulous
  • Lacquered Geek
  • The Nail Polish Directory
  • Michelle B.
  • Jenna C
  • Barbara H

One person has had to delay their donation match until the next batch is released but all together we raised $325 for NAMI!! Wow, that is amazing you guys!
There was the option to leave a note with the donation and so I included this: "In honor of those who have fought and are still battling mental illness and its social stigma, with love from Lucky 13 Lacquer and friends." and due to some fancy-schmancy posting magic I linked to this post.

Thank you again to everyone who helped spread the word of Softening the Bad Things, NAMI's message, and for those who matched the donation. Together we're making a huge difference!
