For those of you who are totally draggin' (teehee, dragon) butt and haven't finished yet, the following contains SPOILERS for Harry Potter.
Thankfully I had a group of friends who were supportive of my idea (and a best friend who helped me with the last bit to reach my goal on the very last day) and Lucky 13 wasn't dead in the water before it even began, and in the last year my group of friends has grown to a larger list than I could name off the top of my head.
Thank you for all your kind words and support, I owe the entire last year to each and every one of you, whether you've been with me from the start or you just heard my name today. Oh gosh, before I get too mushy I should introduce the newest collection!
Mischief Managed
I hope you all can appreciate the pain I went through to create these lacquers. It's not just that I had to rewatch the entire series for proper inspiration ("oh yes, poor you", you say) it was the fact that I had to rewatch the entire series. The first films start out all right, bright and cheery with a hint of darkness, but as the series progresses (and the readers/watchers grow older; JK Rowling is a literary genius) it becomes darker and darker, until I feel like I can't possibly feel any more sadness--then I learn that yes, in fact, I can. Someone grab more tissue. Sirius. Dumbledore. Hedwig. Dobby. Snape. Fred. Tonks and Lupin. Near the end it's almost one right after the other.
But I also got to see the amazing story and character development (go, Neville!) again and therefore I thank you all for having enough of an interest in the lacquers I create and in one of the most brilliant stories of all time, enough so that I knew the time (and emotion!) invested into this collection would be fully understood and appreciated. <3
Red jelly base with gold glitters.
Inspired by the brave lions of Gryffindor.
Green crelly base with silver glitters.
Inspired by the cunning serpents of Slytherin.
Blue crelly base with bronze glitters.
Inspired by the wise eagles of Ravenclaw.
Sunshine yellow crelly base with black glitters.
Inspired by the hard working badgers of Hufflepuff.
The following colors were ideas that simply refused to get out of my mind until I poured them into a bottle. May I present, in no particular order...
Sheer silver-y topcoat with aqua microflakes that glows bright blue in the dark.
Inspired by the patronus and this exchange between Albus Dumbledore and Professor Snape.
"Lily? After all this time?" - Albus
"Always." - Snape
Red, orange, and yellow matte shreds in a clear base.
Inspired by Fawkes the phoenix and his dirge upon Dumbledore's death.
Stone grey crelly base with hot orange, blood red, and gold microflakes.
Created in collaboration with Mishka of Accio Lacquer and inspired by Harry's fight with the Hungarian Horntail during the Triwizard Tournament.
Black jelly base with different sizes of gold and holographic gold hex.
Inspired by Lord Voldemort's horcruxes.
Chrome silver with tiny rainbow specks.
Please do not attempt to drink this polish; there are no guarantees that it will be able to keep you alive even if you are an inch from death, but were you to try you would surely live a cursed half-life.
Inspired by, of course, the liquid silver unicorn blood drunk by Quirrell to sustain Lord Voldemort's life.
Lime green crelly base with different sizes of silver and holographic lime green hex glitters.
Inspired by the Unforgivable Killing Curse.
Pale cream crelly base with all different sizes of gold and holographic gold hex.
Inspired by the snitch used in Quidditch.
Birthday Fun!
First, everyone who orders the entire Mischief Managed collection (10 pieces) between June 13th and June 20th (shortie or full) will automatically have a full size Golden Snitch added to their order as a gift from me.
Second, each person who orders 5 or more from the Mischief Managed collection will be entered to win the entire 5-piece upcoming Femme FaTEAL collection NOW, 4 to 6 weeks before it's available to the public! There will be only one random winner of the Femme FaTEAL collection and it will be added to their shipment in secret. Once delivery has been confirmed I will release the video showing the winner being chosen.
Third, there's a scavenger hunt of sorts. Please read these directions carefully! I have created 10 snitch-related crafts and I have scattered 5 golden snitches across 5 different products on the Lucky 13 site. They may be from polishes in any collection that is currently available for purchase but they are not in the glitter pages. Each snitch will take you to an image showing a one-time use code (meaning someone cannot find the code and share it with others) which you enter into the "Apply Coupon" field in your cart and you will receive a snitch-y prize! Capitalization doesn't matter but you must have two or more items in your cart to apply the code and if the code shows as invalid someone else has already used it--hunt for the others! The code will not be reserved if you simply have it applied to your cart, you must check out to successfully claim the prize. 5 codes are available now and another 5 will be released on Sunday to allow more people a chance to win.
You may only use one scavenger hunt code per order, if more than one code is used it will nullify BOTH codes from the order and the codes will be re-released for others to find. Keep your eyes peeled, seekers, and happy hunting!
