So....Stuff Happened.

As those of you who follow my Facebook page have likely seen that I've been having a rough time lately. While I'm so pleased the Lord of the Rings collections were so popular it had some very unexpected downfalls.

On September 13th I received more orders in a single day than I had ever received in my best month. My previous method of filling orders had been to mix colors in a 4oz bottle, wait for orders to come in, fill the requested bottles, label them, and ship them out. Simple, right? It would take a couple days for larger orders but orders of just a couple colors would generally go out the next business day. But that's just not going to work when 300+ bottles are ordered in a single day. Thankfully I have plans to change how I prepare for orders and for new collections that should keep me from having too overwhelming of a to do list in the future.

On top of the unexpected influx of orders I've had so many other factors keeping me down. A sick kitty, one of my best friends is going through a horrible ordeal, and there's been nonstop construction going on with my apartment building. Most notably my windows are still unsealed and it's been below 40 most nights (but I can't justify keeping the heater on all night when I know it's literally going right out the window) and my flooring is supposed to be replaced which has taken my 430 square foot studio to about 100 square feet of living space, not including the bathroom.

Let me drive that home for you: I'm living in about a quarter of the space I'm paying for. And what's worst is my flooring was supposed to be replaced yesterday so I could move everything back to wear it belongs...but they won't actually be getting to my unit until Monday. Want to see what my beautiful workspace I posted about a few weeks ago looks like now?

Yep. I get to crawl over my bed just to get to the bathroom. And getting to my closet in the far back right? Ain't happenin'. With the crushing feelings of failure with being behind on orders and being forced into such a cramped "living" space my depression has hit an all-time low.

I hope everyone understands just how much I regret being behind on orders--I genuinely love doing Lucky 13!!! I love waking up every morning and wondering what I'll be making that day, who I'll be chatting with in comments on Facebook, all that awesome stuff! But apparently the cosmos are telling me it's time to take a weekend off.

Assuming they actually replace my flooring on Monday I anticipate being back to work as usual on Tuesday, which will allow me time to move everything back to where it belongs and a night to just relax in the comfort of my newly-refloored home and cuddle with my kitty.

When I'm back to working normally I'll have a new collection to announce and a new charity polish (with a twist. You'll see what I mean in a few days).

Thank you to everyone who understands, and again I'm so sorry about the delays. Life sometimes demands that we put ourselves before our passions, and it looks like this week is my week to sit back and relax.

Sorry to hear about the rough patch. Construction always seems to take longer than quoted... I sure hope they finish your floors on monday. I'd go crazy with all that having to be in an enclosed space. Definite props to you for hanging in there with those kinds of conditions!

I think that's great about the LotR collection though! That's not failure that is definitely success!! It just turned into a bit more than you can chew so to speak. It doesn't mean you'll choke it just means it'll take you longer to swallow (awful analogy i know! lol). :) We all get swamped at some time or another so we'll all understand if it takes a bit longer than usual to get an order because it's totally worth it.

You're worth it. And your beautiful polishes are worth it. One day at a time and all that :) I hope your furbaby feels better soon. It always sucks when they're not feeling well and you're limited to what you can do for them. I'm rambling I know... but I just wanted to put in my 3 cents (3 becuz its my lucky number haha)

Wow, I'm sorry to hear about all the stuff going on right now. It's really crazy how good things (like having your brand get more popular) can be so difficult sometimes. And I can totally relate. It seems that at times life just throws you all the worst things at the same time and the weight of it can be too much. But I wish you the best :) I am very excited to see what else you release!

Aw, I'm sorry! Construction is a nightmare; we're currently rebuilding our entire house by hand and it's EATING OUR LIIIIIIIIVES. Your polishes are so lovely, I'm not surprised they're so popular. Take all the time off you need, though----you seem like an amazing person and you absolutely deserve it! <3

Oh honey, I'm so sorry! I wish there was more I could do to help you out. I mean, puppies in pajamas are great but the happiness they bring is only temporary, and temporary happiness isn't going to offset this much fucked. If there is anything I can do, listen or send more pictures or anything, let me know.

You are amazing, and your polish is a dream come true. Life happens, and I would hope your customers would be understanding of that. Hopefully the gods start tossing you a bone, because you deserve happiness and a good place to live (and make that delicious polish).

When it rains, it pours, right?

You should know I think you're amazing. I know how hard it can be to function and be productive when you're going through a spell like this, but you make such an incredible product and are so involved with your customer base, everyone who appreciates what you do will understand! Sometimes you just have to take time for yourself.

Hi! I'm so sorry you're having a rough time. Sometimes it feels like you can't win for losing. You feel fussy and grumpy and everywhere you look only reinforces this feeling. Just know that you are valued and loved as a person and it will get better. I hope your friend and kitty feel better soon.

I've never actually ordered before but I saw the LoTR collection on Accio lacquer and wanted them all. You have a wonderful talent and these growing pains are proof of that. Take all the time you need and ignore the haters. :)

I'm so sorry to hear about your struggles, especially your sick kitty and your friend! If it helps at all, I just received my order and it was absolutely worth the wait. I'm sure decent people will understand that the nature of Independent companies is that they don't have the luxury of a huge work force and production line, and some times small delays happen. Keep up the awesome work! :)

I also suffer from depression and a social anxiety too, so I kind of know what you're going through. I've been going through apt mishaps too, unfunnily enough, that have made my anxiety & depression be more present, plus other life stuff that doesn't make life on a delivery, but I think it's safe for me to say that you should take your time so you can keep your sanity. Nail polish is awesome (i consider it color therapy that I can take with me), but it's is not a good enough reason to be a mess emotionally. Hope everything starts to clear up and that you start feeling better soon.

Nail polish has definitely become my biggest anti-depressant, I think that's why "failing" with Lucky 13 at the moment is hitting me so hard! I'm already feeling myself coming back to a normal emotional level though, I can't wait to get back to work as usual :-)
