There and Back Again & The Fellowship release

9/12/2013

Happy Friday the 13th, everyone!

I couldn't allow today to pass without incident; I've been planning today's release(s!) for the last 4 months!! I hope it's been worth the wait for you all; it certainly has been for me.

Today I'm releasing not one collection today, oh no. Today I'm going to release two related collections!!

The first collection, The Fellowship, is inspired by...well...the Fellowship! It's a 9 piece set which has a lacquer dedicated to each Hobbit, Dwarf, Man, Elf, and Maiar in the Fellowship.

When swatching I paired some of The Fellowship/There and Back Again polishes. I'll begin by describing the Fellowship polishes and move into There and Back Again afterward. If you get confused as to which polish in a picture I'm discussing the bottle will match the color on my nails I'm writing about. It's hard to find time to swatch 18 polishes as a full mani!

The Fellowship

Picture

Not All Those Who Wander are Lost

Picture
Slightly frosty brown with tons of teensy green shimmer.

The green shimmer was difficult to capture at its full strength, what you see in the picture isn't as intense as it is on your nails!

Inspired by Aragorn/Strider, main color of mani.

Nobody Tosses a Dwarf!

Picture
Light brown jelly with golden shimmer, tiny bronze squares, and fine and medium gold hex.

Inspired by Gimli, accent color of mani.

One Does Not Simply...

Picture
Shimmery chocolate brown jelly with fine silver, red, and caramel, medium red and caramel, and large silver glitters.

Inspired by Boromir, main color of mani.

Picture
For those who miss the Internet meme reference! And to the right is an example of how the "one does not simply..." meme might be used, 'cause it's just so darn true!

But I Want to Fight!

Picture
Purple jelly with fine and medium lime green holo glitters.

When designing this collection I had so many basic ideas for Merry and Pippin (coordinating colors, contrasting colors, a glitter topper and a creme...) but in the end I felt that inverting the colors best fit with Merry and Pip's fun-loving personalities and still looked great together (as Merry and Pip should always be).

Inspired by Merry, main color of mani.

Fool of a Took!

Picture
Lime green jelly with fine and medium purple glitters.

But I Want to Fight!'s inverted twin.

Inspired by Pippin, accent of mani.

Taking the Hobbits to Isengard

Picture
Pale green crelly with all sizes and shapes of silver holo glitter.

Inspired by Legolas, accent of mani.

Picture
Taking the Hobbits to Isengard was inspired by Legolas' gorgeous outfit during Aragorn's coronation, shown to the left.

The Road Goes Ever On and On

Picture
Pale grey jelly with tiny silver specks.

The silver specks are supposed to make you think of Gandalf the White, while the grey base is for Gandalf the Grey. Does it work??

Inspired by Gandalf, main color of mani.

Named after Gandalf singing "The Road Goes Ever On and On" by JRR Tolkien in Sir Ian McKellen's opening scene of the Lord of the Rings trilogy, shown to the left.

Samwise the Brave

Picture
The perfect shade of nude crelly base with tiny, fine, and medium bronze, fine and medium emerald, and tiny and fine maroon pink.

Inspired by, of course, Samwise Gamgee, accent color of mani.

And what is the Fellowship without a Baggins? Why, sure, I know a Baggins. Froooodo Baggins! He's my second cousin, once removed on his mother's side.

The Most Famousest of Hobbits

Picture
Dark chocolate with lighter chocolate-y shimmer jelly base with fine, medium, and large gold glitters, with fine hex and medium square royal blue glitters.

Inspired by Frodo Baggins.

This lacquer will be a free bonus lacquer for those who order all 8 other pieces from the Fellowship collection! See the shop for more details.

There and Back Again

Picture

The Meaning of Haste

Picture
White crelly with fine, medium, and large silver hex and fine and medium gunmetal hex.

Inspired by Shadowfax, accent of mani.

A Mortal Life

Picture
Pale green with silver shimmer.

Inspired by Arwen, main color of mani.

Picture
A Mortal Life was inspired by Arwen's outfit during Aragorn's coronation, shown to the right.

Now Wrath, Now Ruin, and A Red Dawn

Picture
Dark teal jelly with tiny and medium silver hex and fine turquoise and red glitters.

Inspired by the Battle of the Hornburg at Helm's Deep, main color of mani.

No Man Can Kill Me

Picture
Dark slate grey jelly with fine silver holo hex and squares.

Inspired by the Nazgûl, accent of mani.

Flame of Udûn

Picture
Black jelly base with teensy gold flecks and tiny red and orange glitters.

Looking to add some evil to your lacquer collection? Well, I suppose "evil" is subjective, the Balrog...well, it wasn't his fault that the Dwarves of Durin dug too greedily and too deep! Regardless, this is a very "evil"-looking lacquer.

Inspired by the Balrog, main color of mani.

Beyond Darkness, Beyond Desolation

Picture
Blood red jelly with tons of holographic glitters in red, gold, and charcoal in hex and squares.

And another thing about "evil" creatures. Smaug was only trying to keep what was his before that filthy, nasty little Hobbitses came and stole his goodies! Uh oh, did I just mix Gollum/Smeagol and Smaug there? Smaug, Smeagol, same diff, right? ;-)

Inspired by Smaug, accent of mani.

I Am No Man

Picture
Emerald green jelly with teensy gold flecks, fine and medium gold, and medium emerald glitters.

Inspired by Éowyn, main color of mani.

Picture

The women of Middle Earth deserve more recognition then they generally get and so, upon seeing Éowyn's gorgeous green and gold dress it struck me as the perfect inspiration. And, even better, it pairs beautifully with the One Ring's polish!

Mist and Shadow, Cloud and Shade

Picture
Purple-y periwinkle base with tons of sky blue holo and silver holo in different sizes and shapes.

Inspired by the Misty Mountains.

I sort of mixed The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings with this polish. It's inspired by the Misty Mountains but named after Pippin singing a beautiful song to Lord Denethor. I adore this song, check it out to the right.

My Precious

Picture
Golden jelly base with fine and medium gold hex.

Inspired by the One Ring of power.

This lacquer will be a free bonus lacquer for those who order all 8 other pieces from the There and Back Again collection! See the shop for more details. You may take advantage of both freebies in a single order if you want all 18 pieces!!

Picture
By the way, yes, I totally have the One Ring's inscription in place of the usual name label. The normal name label has been moved to the bottom of the bottle to allow for maximum geekitude.

And there you have it, folks! Two collections that I've been just dying to release. They're available now in the shop, but I want to hear what you think of them. Love 'em, hate 'em, still trying to figure out what a hobbit is? Tell me in the comments!

Super Bonus!

Free bottles of The Most Famousest of Hobbits and My Precious not enough? Do you need MORE than the 18 pieces of these two collections combined? Has the One Ring turned you into a Scary Bilbo, reaching after the precious lacquers?
Scary Bilbo
Anyone who orders both entire collections between now and the 20th will be entered into a raffle for a shortie bottle of Our Most Beloved Star!! This goes on until the 20th because larger orders have an increased turnaround time between order and shipment, the raffle shouldn't delay shipment though!

In the event no one orders both entire collections the raffle will be held between everyone who orders either complete collection. If that doesn't happen...I'll just randomly pick someone to win!

The winner will be announced on Facebook on 9/20 and their prize will be shipped with the rest of their order.
